"I did two different drum-tracking sessions for a recent record with NC band Roman Candle (Outlook/Hollywood Records). The same studio (Overdub Lane, in Durham, NC) and the same drum kit and drummer, the only difference being the arrival of the Hoverdeck Isolation Riser for the second group of sessions. It was especially a pleasure to hear the kick drum and floor tom come more into focus, as if we'd found a hidden "tone knob" on the kit. It made mics seem more accurate, the playing seem more articulate, and it made us happy! We were tracking a live-in-the-studio version of Stevie Wonder's "I Was Made to Love Her," Roman Candle-style, and the added buoyancy seemed to communicate to all the instruments, down the line."
